Holiday Club Accounts – Have you checked them out?

Because it is only March, I’m sure the fun, bustle, and bills of the holiday season are the farthest thing from your mind.  I mean, come on…if we are lucky, we just barely finished paying off the bills from last season.  Here’s where Idadiv can help!  Set up a Holiday Club account with payroll deduction and when the first of November rolls around, you’ll be ready to shop till you drop without racking up credit card bills and stressing over how to pay for it all.

According to BIGresearch and the National Retail Federation, the average consumer will spend nearly $925 this holiday season.  To save that much by then might seem overwhelming to some, but it’s really not that hard with payroll deduction.  My husband and I opened a Holiday Club account in December and have amazingly saved over $400 so far.  We both contribute $25 per paycheck and honestly don’t miss it.  If you think $25 is too much, start with a smaller amount.  Bottom line is, it will add up quicker than you think.

Now if you are not familiar with our Holiday Club accounts, here is a brief overview of how they work.  You can start one with as little as $5.00 or a payroll deduction.  Throughout the year, we encourage you to make deposits to the account up to a maximum of $2,500 per year.  The funds in the account are not available for withdrawal, thus making it easy to leave the funds there.  Dividends are paid once a year on the first of November.  The funds are transferred to your regular share account on the first business day of November for you to use as you please.  As an added bonus, this account is paying an awesome 3.25% APY, which in today’s market is a wonderful rate!

If you don’t think the Holiday Club account is right for you. there are so many other ways to utilize Idadiv’s account structures to help you save money.  Maybe you’d rather open a sub-savings account for a specific purchase or purpose instead.  Save for birthdays, insurance, taxes, that new flat screen TV, or even a vacation.  Plus, we make managing them easy with online access.

If you’ve make it to this page, chances are you’ve noticed that our home page has a new look and feel to it.  With that change, we have decided to launch this blog to help keep you and others informed of what is happening within Idadiv and our community.  

We’re pleased to be one of the first Credit Unions in our area to blog and are so excited that you’ve found us!  Different staff members will keep this blog updated with fun, informative tidbits about what is happening at Idadiv so you will always be “in the know!”
