We took the PINK PLEDGE!!!

Did you know that Idaho ranks 50^th in the nation for the number of women receiving their yearly mammograms? This is not a ranking to be proud of, especially considering that 1 in 8 women will receive breast cancer at some point in their lifetime.

That’s why the staff at Idadiv didn’t think twice when asked to participate in the PINK PLEDGE, sponsored by the Idaho Press Tribune and Saint Alphonsus Medical Center, Nampa.

If you’ve been by the Nampa branch today, you more than likely saw the pink ribbons on the trees and the ribbon balloons on the walkway. Our readerboard also shows we took the pledge and our staff are all sporting our pink today all in an effort to increase awareness of breast cancer prevention in Idaho!

Boise Music Festival 2010!

Summers in Idaho means HOT weather, BBQ’s with family and friends, the Canyon County Fair, the Western Idaho Fair, and now the Boise Music Festival. The Boise Music Festival was a great event, they had 5 stages with 40 local bands and a few big names like Macy Gray, Backstreet Boys, and Brett Michaels! It has been advertised on the radio for months and boy was that evident. Organizers of the event say they gave out over 75,000 tickets and they were all FREE! This was all because of great sponsors, like IDADIV. We are proud to say that we had a hand in this year’s Boise Music Festival. Here are some pictures I took while I was there. ENJOY!!

Idadiv’s 2nd Lunch and Learn Event

We held our second Lunch and Learn event for our new Financial Services Division on Wednesday at our Meridian branch. Those in attendance learned about retirement trends, how to protect their hard-earned nest egg from the ups and downs of the market, ways to immunize their funds against future potential tax increases, how to identify good and bad of financial products, and tools to help make their retirement funds last as long as they do or longer.

This is our second such event and we will continue to host these Lunch and Learn seminars each month. I will admit that even though I have a 15 year background in financial services, I did learn several items at the seminar. I would encourage all to attend a future event. Feel free to bring along a friend or coworker, too, even if they aren’t a member. We’d love to have them!

Paint ‘Em Up Cowboys Contest

The Nampa branch participated in the Paint ‘Em Up Cowboys Contest again this year. Although we didn’t win, we still had a great time coming up with ideas, painting, and decorating the branch to welcome in the Rodeo!

Busy, Busy Day!!

Have you ever had one of those days where you start out running? Well on Friday July 9^th the Meridian Branch did. To start out we hosted the Meridian Chamber of Commerce First Friday. First Friday is a fun social networking event where members of the Meridian Chamber get together and have breakfast and mingle at a hosting business on the First Friday of the month. This month we hosted and had baked eggs, bagels, and some yummy Danish. After First Friday was over, WOW 104.3 showed up to do a radio remote from the Meridian Branch and to also hand out tickets to the Boise Music Festival which we are proud to be a sponsor of! Dairy Days 2010 & Mascot Dance Off!

Being brand new in Meridian and furthermore in Ada County, IDADIV has a lot of firsts. One of our firsts was that it is our first year participating in Dairy Days and boy was it fun! This year we sponsored the Kid’s Corral. The Kid’s Corral was a fun booth where kids and teens could come by and make beaded bracelets or color. We also had our first entry in the Cow Wow Art Contest and this year we had “Moo”Lah from Money University. Another great event (and my favorite one) from Dairy Days was the Mascot Dance Off. Mascots from all over came together and had a little competition to see who had the best ‘moo’ves. This year’s contest included our very own Pee Wee, Texas Roadhouse Armadillo, Red from Red Robin, Humphrey the Hawk from the Boise Hawks and a few others. Dairy Days and Cow-Wow! Contest

Every year at this time many things tell us that a new season is upon us. The weather starts getting warmer and town celebrations are underway. Emmett has the Emmett Cherry Festival, Star has Star’s Hometown Celebration, and Meridian has the Meridian Dairy Days.

This year’s Meridian Dairy Days runs from June 14^th through the 19^th and has all sorts of events for the whole family.

One event is Cow Wow Art Contest that is presented by the United Dairymen of Idaho. What is the Cow Wow Art Contest you ask? Well the Cow Wow Art Contest is a contest where Meridian businesses, groups and individuals decorate plywood cows to show off their creativity and vie for prizes. Prizes are awarded for Most Creative, Theme, Best of Herd, Largest Herd, and The People’s Choice Award.

The Meridian Chamber chooses a theme each year and all the cows need to reflect this theme in some way. This year’s theme is Moo-scots, and IDADIV would like to introduce you to our very own Maribelle.

This year Maribelle will be dressed up as “Moo”Lah from Money University. Come and stop by Storey Park and vote for your favorite cow and while you’re there stop by the Kids Corral which we are pleased to announce that IDADIV is sponsoring this year!

Congratulations, Ben Gale!

Every year, Idadiv proudly presents one deserving member with a $500.00 Mary M. Jones Scholarship. Just last week, we named Benjamin Gale of Caldwell this year’s recipient.

Ben is a student at Caldwell High School and is planning to attend College of Western Idaho in the fall. Among his many accomplishments, he is a member of the High School Honor Roll, lettered in football, and tutored others in reading. In his letters of recommendation, it was revealed that he participated in and won first place on the Mr. CHS contest. Congratulations, Ben!

I think it’s awesome that Idadiv is committed to helping our youth succeed. Between our generous scholarship, quarterly Brass magazines, and our friendly, helpful staff who are dedicated to getting our youth started out on the right financial foot, Idadiv is a great place for young people.

So, if you know a young person who will be either graduating from high school next year or attending college, be sure to let them know about the benefits of Idadiv membership. Not all financial institutions are as dedicated as Idadiv is to helping youth succeed!
